Overview

Nestled along the bustling Kovalam Road in the historic town of Mahabalipuram, Arabian Garden Multi Cuisine Restaurant offers a coastal seafood experience that aims to capture the essence of authentic Arabian and South Indian flavors. This eatery is particularly known for its seafood specialties that include cherished dishes like Tandoori Full Fish, Crab Pepper Fry, Samba Crab, and an impressive array of prawn and lobster preparations. The menu blends traditional spices with grilling and tandoori techniques, offering a fusion that appeals to seafood aficionados.

The restaurant’s location, right opposite A2B on E Raja Street, provides easy access with ample parking, while the open-air dining space filled with greenery creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Its mix of indoor and outdoor seating caters well to families, tourists, and casual diners seeking a laid-back meal after exploring nearby temples and beaches.

The standout aspects here are undoubtedly the fresh and skillfully prepared seafood dishes. Many patrons highlight the perfectly grilled tiger prawns, crab masala, and buttery garlic prawns, which burst with coastal spices and freshness that suggest locally sourced catch. The inclusion of non-seafood options like Chicken Fried Rice and Mutton Pepper Soup broadens the appeal, though these have received mixed reactions in terms of flavor and execution.

Despite the culinary highs, the restaurant shows some inconsistency in its offerings. While several guests praise the flavorful seafood and courteous service, others find certain dishes underwhelming—such as the fish preparations and biryanis—and note delays in service. This inconsistency may reflect peak-hour pressures or menu items that don't quite meet the expectations set by the signature seafood.

In essence, Arabian Garden is best suited for diners with a passion for seafood who appreciate a coastal-meets-Arabian culinary adventure in a casual, green setting. It offers memorable grilled and tandoori seafood that can enhance a trip to Mahabalipuram but may fall short for those seeking flawlessly balanced flavors across a wider menu or faster service.

For those visiting the area, Arabian Garden stands as an authentic seafood retreat where the ocean’s bounty is the main character, complemented by a serene ambiance ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. While it might not be perfect in every aspect, it remains a notable destination for those eager to taste true coastal flavors infused with Arabian influences.

Seafood dishes are very delicious especially the tawa grilled prawns. Mutton manthi rice is soaky and below average. The open dining area is so comfy and relaxing with lot of plants and plenty of car parking space outside.

Arabian Garden is a known spot in Mahabalipuram for grills and shawarma. Didn’t like the taste of their fish — felt quite average. Even when there were empty seats, the service was lazy and slow. Ambience is decent with both indoor and outdoor seating. Okay for a casual visit, but not a place I’d go back to.

If you're a seafood lover visiting Mahabalipuram, Arabian Garden is an absolute must-visit! Tucked away in a serene corner of this historic coastal town, this restaurant delivers a memorable dining experience with its warm ambiance, friendly service, and, most importantly — incredibly fresh and flavorful seafood. We tried their grilled prawns, crab masala, and grilled Lobster — each dish was perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and seasoned with authentic coastal spices. The seafood is clearly fresh and locally sourced. The staff is courteous, attentive, and always ready to recommend dishes based on your taste preferences. The setting is clean, laid-back, and ideal for a relaxing lunch or dinner after a beach or temple visit. Highly recommended for seafood enthusiasts and families looking for an authentic Arabian-Coastal fusion dining experience in Mahabalipuram.

I wouldn't recommend this shop for tasty food. Only the golden squid fry was good. The Koduva fish BBQ we ordered was very bland and cost ₹2000 — quite expensive. The biryani didn’t taste good, the fried rice was just okay, and the fried noodles were very bad — hard to chew. The total bill came to ₹5800 for just 1 chicken biryani, 1 fried rice, 1 fried noodles, 1 BBQ fish, and 2 golden squid fries. Think twice before stepping into this hotel. The waiting time is quite high for every dish.

Too much masala in the mussels. The prawns were tiny. Squid was good. Nothing great about this place. Just hyped.
